I hate the term woke as much as based or redpilled because it only really tells me what someone's against rather than for but in aid of a concise point, let's just use them.Go woke go broke right?
Here's a headline from the future:
"GTA 6 Breaks Single Day Entertainment Sales RECORD with $1.4 BILLION"
GTA is one of if not the strongest IP in the world. $1.4 billion is lowballing it. That doesn't mean it isn't going to be influenced heavily by a generation of people whose ideas have been widely rejected by the international markets. It's perfectly possible for woke media to be good, that's nothing new. Omar in The Wire's a great example. No one gives a fuck that he's gay because every other aspect of the character is well developed. The GTA games upto IV were the same & 5 did well but the story sucked and financially it gets a huge boost from selling flying cars to toddlers in GTA online.
Identity politics hamfisted into the product is what people fear because of prevailing trends in modern western game studios and that's where the financial shortfall begins because you alienate original fanbases and woke people don't pay for shit unless they absolutely have to. GTA will fall into that category because it's been 12 years since the last one, demand for it is higher than any other IP and refunding a AAA game before you realise it's empty is nigh on impossible. a new woke IP (and some previously dependable ones) will fail because all the detail and nuance that hide your politcal messages hidden in your media isn't there, the message needs to be front and centre. That's when a movie/game/show stops being entertainment and starts being school.
