You need others to tell you how to rank movies you watch?
No but Kurosawa has an amazing filmography and when his films are brought up it's always Seven Samurai, Yojimbo, Ikiru, High and Low and a bunch of other shit, you rarely see Ran mentioned.

Same thing with Bergman who has several masterpieces and my favourite of his is Autumn Sonata which you also never see get brought up.

Most of his later tenure gets ignored, and that's because he had such a string of classics in the 50's and 60's.

The closest American contemporary I could compare him to is John Ford - same deal, middle of his career was an amazing run, but he still did The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance later on, which was a very restrained film from him.

But between Yojimbo, which inspired Leone, and Hidden Fortress, which inspired Lucas, and Seven Samurai, which inspired pretty much everyone - there's a reason his later work gets ignored: it's not quite to their levels, even if a "lesser" work is better than the "best" from a cunt like Chris Nolan.

Nice sound mix for Tenet, stupid.
