He's dying man. It sucks he doesn't know it.

Basically:

1) As the liver fails, your short term memory gets fucked. For instance, last night I spent about fifteen minutes trying to remember what the fuck I was doing in Baltimore, ten years ago. I know I'd been there, because I stumbled across a pic, but I couldn't recall WHY. It was bugging me so bad, I went through my email and found the plane receipt, just to be 100% sure that it happened. My memory of that trip, 98% of it is just gone. I fried those brain cells.

2) Your long term memory remains. I don't know what the mechanics of this are. I can tell you a thousand details of what I was doing in high school, but I can't recall why I was in Baltimore in 2015. I just have a pic to prove it.

3) Due to the brain damage, you start obsessing about "the good old days" because you literally can't remember things that happened last week.

If you don't have brain damage yourself, you might chalk it up to "he's old." But that's not what's going on here; this is someone who should have stopped drinking fifteen years ago, and he didn't. So now it's just poking holes in his grey matter. He can't process the alcohol; his liver isn't 100% functional.

I think you can still keep your heart beating even if your liver is at something like 5% capacity. But you aren't going to be anywhere close to how sharp you were with a fully functional brain.

Ant is basically turning into Lady Di.
So good news, generally?

Brewwwwwwdal, and all true. My uncles have lived this description.

Ime medication and clinical severe depression can also do this to your memory, though at least your body isn't (always) failing you too, and once you come off the pills or find a way back to a dopamine/serotonin baseline you can bounce back at least somewhat.

e.g. I've never been a drinker, but have been misprescribed very naughty powerful medication and had a dark night of the soul, and there are months & years in the 2010s I cannot recall much of. I know what job I had and where I lived, but that's it. There again, most of my dull miserable adolescence is all just a blur to me now, too, and I'm not even 40--that's half by design and more normal though, I'm guessing.

Now we're on the depressing subject: wonder whether this is one reason Opie has cut off Anthony so harshly. Besides the noncing and racial invective, I mean. It must be heartbreaking for Gregg to have to look at this decomposing shell of his former partner & friend, or talk to him and realise he remembers so little of a time that they shared. It's easier to grieve someone with time & space, even and especially if they aren't dead yet, so perhaps Opie's gone early on the mourning?

All speculation, I don't know the man, but presumably: since Opie intimately knew the 'best' (sliding curve/low bar) version of Anthony and was the closest to him during that time, he actually has something to grieve, unlike the rest of us.

Opie also no longer has much of a relationship with Anthony, let alone one that's muddied by codependency, fet, grift or exploitation unlike most of the rest of Anthony's remaining associates, friends & family, so he can probably access and process his true feelings on the matter more clearly without bias.

So if he regrets and mourns Anthony's illness and passing--and he will, look how giddy he was that Anthony texted him back and wished him a good Xmas a few years back--it won't be performative or rooted in guilt or self-interest. He and possibly Dawn are the only people alive about whom we can say this.

Opie is here you idiot along with his multiple Alt accounts too. Why do you think this place is so pro Opie? You cant talk about anything going on with him obviously. Look around you?!! He controls this place.
Just FYI @Suetonius is one of Opie’s “guys” from his private Facebook group. He gets a cut from Opie’s super chats.

No. We don’t have holes in the chat. I also told you who Opie is on here. I am not the opester nor the actor who played him, Gregg Hughes. The last thing I need is for Anthon/ people snooping around my faaawking business…sniff.
Ok OPIE. I wont tell Anthony I talked to you if you let me in your secret chat or discord 🙂
