He's lying. You don't take a puppy that size out for 'walks'. They have no idea what a 'walk' is and hop around or chew the leash or just sit down. I'd be surprised if he was even able to put a harness on it without it freaking out.

My dog cried in his for at least a month or two, I had to stay up and cuddle him to sleep in the small hours quite a few times (in retrospect he left his Mum a bit too early). At least there was no danger of him biting or turning on me.

Enjoy the crate crying for at least a few months, Anthony. In some dogs, it never goes away. Hope he's stocked up on earplugs. Honestly his best bet with a dog that rambunctious is to get a second dog. They grow up together and tire each other out and there's less chance of them shredding things around the house when you're not home or losing their shit in the crate. Less separation anxiety. He won't do that, though, and one day he'll come home to a dead cat and his WWII memorabilia destroyed.
