Robin, Jackie, Billy, and Fred all had careers as well. Richard Christie was a heavy metal drummer and good enough to tour with major bands. He basically gave up a touring music career to be a Stern flunkie. Artie actually didn't have much of a career left when he started working for Stern. When Stern started in radio he had to make live appearances every weekend as Hop-along Howie and other early versions of himself. His own Spuds Buckley phase. The only difference was that his pay increased and he could cease the live gigs and appearances. Unlike his flunkies which can barely make ends meet and often quit his show over pay.I still think it’s pathetic and a bad look for Stern.
